Cambridge Lower secondary is part of the Cambridge pathway which build on our excellent Junior school curriculum (Please look out for more exciting developments in this area shortly) and provides an excellent foundation for the Cambridge and Pearson IGCSE, AS and A level courses.
The key elements that lie at the heart of the Cambridge Lower secondary curriculum are its ability to nurture the following key skills in the students that follow it:

While also producing learners that have the following attributes:

· Engaged
The programme develops skills and understanding in a wide range of subjects including English, Mathematics and Science and is designed to further school in delivering a broad and balanced curriculum that meets our needs in terms of context, culture and ethos.
The learning objectives in the Cambridge Lower Secondary Curriculum Frameworks has been designed and refined by taking into account the best evidence based pedogeological practices available while also referencing the content international education such as the National Curriculum for England, The US Common core and even the Chinese National Curriculum. Thus, creating a comprehensive yet flexible curriculum that can be tailored to the needs of the school.
As a result of authorisation from August 2023 Merchiston International School will offer the following courses to our year 7,8 and 9 students:

· Cambridge Lower Secondary Computing
· Cambridge Lower Secondary English
· Cambridge Lower Secondary English as a Second Language
· Cambridge Lower Secondary Mathematics
· Cambridge Lower Secondary Music
· Cambridge Lower Secondary Science
