Message from the HoS
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I am delighted to share some wonderful news from AMC – ISA Wuhan International School has been honoured with both the School Excellence Award and Global Excellence Award. This recognition truly underscores the academic strength and excellence of our beloved ISA Wuhan International School!
As we navigate a bustling semester, students have been actively engaged in showcasing their learning during the “Celebration of Learning” assessment. Their enthusiasm and dedication are commendable, reflecting the vibrant spirit of our school community.
Currently, our entire campus is gearing up for the first round of ISA health checks this year. This self-review process, involving the entire leadership team, allows us to identify our strengths, areas for improvement, and devise actionable plans for continuous growth. A heartfelt thank you to the board for organizing this crucial initiative.
Additionally, Wuhan ISA Academy has taken an extra step forward to enhance student experiences by providing a Late School Bus from 18th December, Monday onwards. Please check your email and communication channel for more details from the school. This service aims to provide added convenience for students participating and new students in academy courses, provisions, and activities, ensuring a seamless transition between school and academy commitments.
Thursday morning, we experienced a delightful music exchange concert in collaboration with local schools – Xinhua, Guan Shi Dun, and Huangling schools. This event not only celebrates our shared cultural diversity but also fosters appreciation among our students. More details about this enriching experience can be found in the update from our Pastoral Head.
I urge all parents to seize the upcoming weekend to spend quality time with your children and check on their well-being. Collaborate with them at home, understand their priorities, and continue supporting their growth as lifelong learners. Remember, to us, “Every Child is Unique.”
Head of School Thought for the Week: “Be Patient.”
Great things in life take time to happen, so one of the best things that you can do is to be patient and work on yourself.
Wishing you all a delightful weekend filled with love, laughter, and ongoing learning. With the flu prevalent, please remember to wash your hands and wear masks. Stay safe and take care.
Warm regards,
Mahesh Selvaraj

Dear Parents,
Winter is Coming
As winter has now become a part of our lives in Wuhan, it is a good time to remind the students to dress appropriately with warm and dry clothes when they arrive at school. The days and nights can get cold here, so it is recommended to wear more than one layer underneath your coats, as well as to equip yourselves with warm socks, a winter cap, mittens, and long-sleeved clothing.
Additionally, the recent outbreak of influenza around the country is spreading at a rapid rate, so it is the recommendation of the government to take the necessary steps to prevent the spreading of germs. For this reason, students are asked to wear masks when possible, and avoid coming to school if they show any signs of illness.
Holiday Spirit
The cold weather has not affected the warm feelings associated with the upcoming holiday season. More and more holiday decorations can be seen in hallways and classrooms throughout the school, and a beautiful decorative tree has been placed in the PYP hallway for all to see.
Holiday Dates
Next week, we plan to celebrate our last day of classes on Thursday, December 21. There will be no classes in the International School starting from Friday December 22, and classes will resume again on Monday, January 8. Please see the information below:
Assembly on Friday
Although in the past week students were busy taking assessments, the International School had several activities which enriched our day to day lives.
In our assembly last week, our students benefited from several activities.
To conclude our series of house assemblies for the term, Tiger House gave the fourth and last house presentation on the value of “Integrity”. As usual, the students sacrificed their afternoon breaks and precious time to work together and collaborate during their meetings in the Art Room. Supervised and assisted by Mr. Ross Wade, the students rose to the occasion and taught us all about integrity in the assembly.
LPA Awards
PYP and Secondary divisions also recognized several students who displayed the characteristics of the IB Learner Profile Attributes (LPA) throughout the month of November. The students were recognized in the assembly and were awarded their LPA Award certificates.
Cancer Drive
Perhaps one of the most meaningful topics of the assembly was the presentation given by Mr. Philip Vanniekerk and Superintendent James Morris on the November charity drive, which was meant to help bring awareness and raise money to fight cancer. The activity concluded with the announcement that the International School PSG raised and donated thousands of RMB in support of the cause. We thank you for your support.
Other Activities
There were many other events that took place in the week involving our students. I invite you to click below on the links of each division’s newsletter page to see what our fabulous students did this week.
All the best,
Adam Klarfeld
