她是北京市学科带头人,北京市骨干教师,北京市对外汉语教学学会理事,全国高等教育字理教学研究中心理事,北京市国培教师。
她从教30余年,有丰富的管理的经验,在她任职校长期间,对教师队伍的培养成绩显著,三年骨干教师增长率近80%。
她曾多次在全国、市区及国际研讨会上做观摩课,在全国及市区青年教师课堂教学基本功大赛中多次获奖。多篇文章、论文在国家一级刊物上发表或获奖。
她曾担任朝阳区教委教学研修中心教研员。课题研究成果获北京市基础教育教学成果一等奖;两次获得朝阳区教育教学成果一等奖。
今天,让我们一起走近青苗上东校区中方校长张向华女士,了解她曾走过的教育实践之路,并一睹她心目中的教育理想!

问:从事教育事业三十余年,这些丰富的经历,让您如何理解和看待“教育”?

Q: What’s your understanding on education based on your 30 years’ experience?
从普通的语文老师、班主任,再到学校管理者,这些丰富的经历,使我对教育的理解经历了所有老师都经历的阶段:“看山是山看水是水,看山不是山看水不是水,看山是山看水是水”的三个变化过程。
第一个阶段,作为一名最初的教育者,事事摆开教育者的姿态,“尽心尽力”的修枝剪叶,努力做一名好的“园丁”,整齐划一的教育成为目标,不免急功近利。
第二个阶段,进入到关注教育的过程,关注到教育现象下或者一些个体教育者背后蕴藏的一些本质的问题,总想找到规律性的可复制的模式的东西,想的是如何使教育效果最大化,甚至是可复制,忽略了个体的感受。
第三个阶段,再看教育,是一个师者与学者互相成就、互相学习的过程,是基于自由、平等、尊重下的讨论过程,是经历倾听、分享的过程,在这个过程中找到平衡点、启发点,是一个平等对话过程,是心里有“人”的过程。

Ever since being a Chinese teacher, homeroom teacher to a school manager, I have learned to see education differently.
At first, being a first starter, I was like a gardener. I set one goal for all and tried to measure all students with one ruler. After that I began to pay more attention to the education process and the nature behind every issue. I started looking for the best education results with laws that I could replicate, without caring the feelings of each individual. And now, education has become a win-win process where teacher and student get to benefit each other, a journey that everyone can discuss, listen and share equally, freely and respectively. It’s to find balance, to communicate, to bring each other to our hearts.
问:作为一名教育研究者和工作者,您自己的教育理想又是什么?

Q: What’s your ideal of education being a researcher and educator?
我的教育理想是让学生学习生活在一个温馨安全的环境中,安全的不仅仅是环境上的,更是心理上情感上的,是像绿色生态的安全的人文环境,老师爱学生,欣赏他们,给予孩子“爱、关心和支持”。学生自然而健康地成长,就像一朵花、一棵树的成长那样自然,需要呵护但不放纵,需要关爱却不失理智,需要修剪但不失去自由成长的空间。一棵树有一棵树的姿态,一朵花有一朵花的芬芳,在丰富的学习活动中体验着、尝试着,享受着成功或者是暂时失利的感受。

My ideal of education is to allow my students to study in a safe and warm environment, not only physically but also mentally. A green eco system where teachers love, care and support the students, a place where students develop and grow with love, wisdom and freedom, like flowers and little trees, to experience, to try, and to enjoy the achievements and feel the failures.
问:从2003年开始着手国际教育的相关工作,您如何看待“国际教育”?此次出任青苗上东校区中方校长职位,是否能谈谈您接下来的工作计划和目标?

Q: How do you look at international education? What’s your plan as the Chinese Principal of BIBS UES Campus?
经过这么多年研究,实践,我觉得国际教育不仅仅等同于国际教师、国际课程,而是一种全球化意识的思维方式和多文化的国际化的视角,包容理解多元文化的心胸和格局。从教育教学的角度看,相对于国内公立校来讲,国际教育也是一种课堂教学方式、知识传授方式的改变。在国际教育中的中文教育目前是各国际学校研究的热门课程,也是研究的难点课程。
此次出任青苗上东校区中方校长职位,就是面临着在中文教育过程中如何实施国际教育的课题。
中文教育与国际教育不是1+1的过程,是“血脉相融”的过程。我以为,中文教育是依托,融合国际化的方式,达到国际教育的目的。
中文教育首先是学生的母语学习的重要依托,更是为学生打下民族情感底色很重要的教育。我们常说民族的就是世界的,中文教育首先是民族文化的自信、自豪感的培养。这也是和青苗学校的办学初衷一致的。所以说,中文教育首先是学生对祖国语言文字的热爱。
在中文教育的方式方法上需要我们借鉴国际IB课程的探究式的项目式的方法,在中文为主的树干上,自然生发出新的枝桠,丰富课程内容,提高学生课程体验,激发中文学习的兴趣,比较中外文化的异同,真正在中文教育的过程中实现国际教育,即中西方教育融合的过程。通过中文教育践行青苗的“采中西合璧之萃,品文化融合之美”的核心价值观。
接下来,我将走进青苗,在中英文比例不变的前提下,带领老师们进一步研究国际教育背景下的中文教育,探索在IB课程理念下的母语教学模式,提升学生中文素养,拥有优秀的母语表达能力,增强学生对中国文化的热爱与自信,培植学生的中国情怀!

International education is not just about foreign teachers and international curriculums. It’s about global mindset and multi-cultural view, and the heart to accept and tolerate other culture backgrounds. From the teaching point of view, international education is a change to the traditional classroom teaching model too. Chinese education is a hot and challenging course in international schools.
Being the Chinese principal of BIBS UES Campus, I also face the challenge of how to implement Chinese education into international education system. This is not as simple as 1+1, but to integrate and blend in. I believe that Chinese education is the foundation.
Chinese is students’ native language as well as their ethnic roots. We always say what ethnic is what worldwide, Chinese education is to establish the students’ ethnic confidence and pride. This is also a core value of BIBS. Students shall love their motherland by loving their mother language.
We will reference from the IB curriculum on how to teach Chinese courses based on projects. We use Chinese language as the main structure, enrich the framework with students’ experience in order to inspire their curiosity and interests to learn. We will compare the cultural differences to make it true international education with integrated Chinese and western education concept.
Moving forward, the Chinese teachers and I will further research on Chinese education in international school under IB concept. We will continue to promote our students’ Chinese literacy expression skills, enhance their love and faith of the Chinese culture.
问:能谈谈是什么样的契机让您来到青苗吗?您眼中的青苗是什么样子的?

Q: What brought to you BIBS? What does BIBS look like to you?
这次与青苗结缘,是偶然也是必然。在选择不同的国际学校的时候,首先吸引我的是与青苗莫名的熟悉感。熟悉青苗的校区位置,因为我原来的家就在上东国际社区;熟悉青苗的名字,早在芳草地国际部的时候,我就耳闻久仰青苗的名字;更是在和施华董事长面谈后的一见如故的熟悉感,有着相同的教育认同感,使我下定决心来到青苗与青苗共同成长。
青苗给我的初印象是纯粹而美好。我选定青苗后就一直通过公众号关注着,特别是疫情期间,青苗的老师们依然不忘教育的初心,关爱支持着孩子们,通过远程课程带给孩子们不一样的学习体验,温暖、鼓励着孩子们。老师的爱是纯粹的,孩子们收获了一段特殊时期美好的回忆。
我很愿意做着纯粹的一份子,共同创造青苗教育的美好。

UES is where I live, and the familiarity has always been there. I’ve heard about the BIBS name years ago, and Ms. Kathy Shi was like an old friend in our first meeting. I decided to join BIBS for the similar mindset and shared education concept.
BIBS has impressed me. As I follow the WeChat official account of our school, I’ve noticed how deeply our teachers and school management care about the students during the COVID-19 outbreak. Their outstanding efforts on the online teaching arrangements must have left the students a special yet fond memory in their life.
Very happy to become one of BIBS, let’s build our future together!
