Happy Teachers' Day
Education is not preparation for life;
education is life itself.
“
This Teacher's Day,
we want to start with a gentle truth.
”
Happy Teachers' Day!

这些课不像"正课",却更像人生;
Happy Teachers' Day!

我们认真工作,也尽情生活;

How do you tie a proper Windsor knot?
How many life hacks do you know for removing stains?
How do you perform the majestic "HeHe Dance" at the opening ceremony?
These answers cannot be found in any textbook. Beyond the curriculum and within life, everyone is a teacher.
This Teachers’ Day, we open the door of the classroom and step into the broader scenes of life—we have invited talented Hedeers to share a series of "life’s little lessons."
Because we firmly believe: Only by loving life in its concrete details can one truly cherish every living, breathing individual within it.
01
The distinguished teachers of HDBJ
Happy Teachers' Day!
Perhaps at the lectern, you recognize their handwriting on the blackboard—but you may not fully know the stories of their lives.
When Teacher Rain was eight years old, she held a Chinese brush for the first time. Later, she became a disciple of a second-generation student of Zhang Daqian, inheriting the legacy of the Dafeng Hall.
In the classrooms of HDBJ, she believes that calligraphy is a reflection of one’s inner world—she always reads emotions and character in the strokes of children’s writing. Rumor has it that those who learn from her mini-lessons not only write more beautifully but may also gain an extra point or two on their essays.

When we walked into the art classroom, we found math teacher Dan discussing techniques of traditional Chinese painting—specifically, the gongbi line drawing and xieyi freehand style—with art teacher Salian.
Seeing the paintings saved in Dan’s phone, we decided to invite her to record a smooth introductory lesson for students who are new to the art form.

When Mr. Armand stands at the podium teaching children how to keep the beat, he is a music teacher; when he stands under the lights of a live house with Mr. Josh, they become members of the band "Arm & Hand".
Formed by five international teachers from HDBJ, this band is performing everywhere across Beijing. But this time, they’re not teaching music theory—Armand brings A Beginner’s Guide to Weightlifting, while Josh shares Tips for Vocal Warm-ups Before Playing and Singing. See, the muscle's memory and the vibration of the strings ultimately spring from the very same passion.

And there are more educators like this, who fluidly transcend the boundaries of their roles.
These lessons may not resemble "standard classes," yet they feel more like life itself—with no single correct answer, only limitless possibilities.
02
Rooted in life
Happy Teachers' Day!
On the eve of the new semester, we came across this post by Maggie on social media.
I never thought the first time I’d tie a tie would be for my own son…
“Mom… so the primary school ties come pre-tied? Tying one is such trouble.”
“It’s okay, I’ll tie it for you… until someday another girl will do it for you…”
My eyes welled up as I said it.
And so, the mini-lesson "30-Second Windsor Knot Tutorial" was created.

Her movements are deft and gentle.
In this video, you don't see the boy, but you see the image of every mother—and that heartfelt longing to set the whole world perfectly in order for him.
True gentlemen demonstrate the skill of tying their own ties, rather than relying on others to do it for them.
If the Windsor knot tutorial begins with a boy’s morning, then the safety session from the Security Department extends from a different kind of “playground.”

We see them standing at the school gate every day, yet we may never know where they once stood.
Paratrooper Song Jian once leaped from thousands of meters high; special forces soldier Zhang Zhipeng crawled through dense jungles; armed police officer Han Tao patrolled in the darkness of night; and scout Li Rongsheng once traversed mountains and rivers in silence. Every member of the security team has stood guard at their own “outpost.”
From defending the nation to protecting children at the school gate, the safety lessons they bring are crisp, precise, and effective—bearing the distinct style of military training. It’s an ingrained instinct: safeguarding the nation, and nurturing growth..
And there are more “teachers” like these, hidden within the fabric of daily life:
These mini-lessons do not come from standardized lesson plans—they are born out of real life, and in the end, they circle back to life itself.

On Teachers' Day, our mascot "HeHe" also carefully prepared a mini-lesson.
We hope every student can learn this signature "HeHe Dance." The next time that familiar BGM echoes across campus—let’s all dance together!

On Teachers' Day, these mini-lessons were softly played across the HDBJ campus.
For the teachers, seeing the children watch with such attentive eyes was their very gift of the day.
The true vitality of education always comes from real people and real lives.
03
Take charge of your life

HDBJ teachers unleash their unexpectedly charming sides.
Beyond their professional and rigorous presence in the classroom—how vibrantly do they blossom outside the campus gates?

In personal moments: we are limitless, unlabeled, vividly passionate individuals.
This is what life truly looks like:
We work with purpose, and we live with joy.
We teach knowledge, but we also share warmth.
Beyond being teachers at HDBJ—each of us is also a teacher of life.
Thank you to every member of the HDBJ community who shared their stories.
Thank you for opening up your lives,
and showing us that the most meaningful classrooms exist beyond the lectern.
Now, it’s your turn—yes, you reading this.
We invite you to tell us in the comments:
