Cogdel School Chengdu's Grand Lecture
On November 4th, Cogdel School Chengdu hosted an in-depth lecture presented by a master. We have invited Mr. Hong Yi, who has made outstanding achievements in many fields such as history, education, and cultural studies, to this lecture. He shared his research and insights on the topics of "The Two Transitions of Chinese History" and "How to Cultivate Children to Have a Vision of the Five Thousand Years of Chinese History?”. Alumni from the five Business Schools of Cheung Kong, CEIBS, Peking University, Tsinghua University, and Wudaokou, as well as parents from Cogdel Education Group's Chengdu campuses were invited to participate in this event.
At the beginning of the event, Henry, the Academic Principal of Cogdel School Chengdu, gave a speech welcoming the parents and introducing the school's philosophy, education model and vision for development. He stressed that the school attaches great importance to traditional Chinese culture and international education, and strives to provide students with a comprehensive and in-depth learning experience.
Afterwards, Mr. Wu Youjun, Chairman of Papa Let's Go Educational Technology Holdings Limited, as the initiator of this event, emphasized the importance and necessity of cultivating children's vision of the 5,000-years history, and further introduced the experience of the guest of honor, Mr. Hong Yi, and the theme of the lecture. He also highly recognized and commended Cogdel School Chengdu for its heritage of culture and its open and inclusive educational philosophy.
Then, Mr. Hong Yi started the lecture. He first analyzed the basic framework of China's 5,000 years of history, and through historical stories and summaries of historical materials, he explained in depth the two important transitions in Chinese history and analyzed the motives and impacts behind the transitions from various perspectivesn of politics, economy, society, military, and culture, as well as the changes in social patterns before and after the transitions. He pointed out that these two transitions laid the foundation of today's Chinese society and are of great significance to the understanding of Chinese history and reality.
In the following roundtable dialogue session, Mr. Hong Yi, Mr. Wu Youjun and Mr. Wang Shu, Chairman of Cogdel Education Group, discussed how to cultivate children to have a vision of the 5,000 years of history. From different perspectives, they had an in-depth discussion on how to cultivate children's correct view of history and the world, how to let children maintain respectful of traditional culture and inheritance in the context of globalization, and how to coordinate school and family education.
Mr. Wang Shu said that Cogdel School Chengdu focuses on traditional Chinese culture, global vision and humanities, which are integrated with each other to provide strong support and guarantee for the development of the children's historical vision and cultural heritage. Cogdel School Chengdu is committed to building a school without borders. By offering traditional culture courses, organizing cultural activities, and inviting cultural experts to give lectures, Cogdel School Chengdu helps children gain an in-depth understanding of the connotations and values of Chinese culture, so as to better comprehend and pass on Chinese civilization, and activities such as Cogdel School Chengdu's Grand Lecture will continue for the parents of the students and for the society. At the same time, we also hope to further cultivate children's cultural self-confidence, so that the inheritance of the splendid culture will become a unique advantage in the children. In this way, our children will be able to face cross-cultural exchanges and competitions with ease when they go abroad, and the advanced experience and knowledge they learn abroad can be applied when they return home, so that they can bring their own strengths into play to the fullest extent.
The audience actively participated in the Q&A session. The questions covered various aspects such as historical perspective, cultural inheritance, parent-child relationship, and home-school education. The three guests of the roundtable dialogue discussed with each other and answered the questions patiently, which enabled the audience to gain a deeper understanding of the theme of this event.
Mr. Hong Yi's brilliant speech and insights, as well as Cogdel School Chengdu's philosophy and education model, were all on display in this lecture. We are honored to welcome alumni of the business schools and parents of our sister schools to this feast of ideas and educational enlightenment.
