Dear all,
The BTEC Performing Arts students have worked on Miss Saigon for their first assignment, it has been a lot of fun but also a lot of hard work as it’s not just about learning lines and singing. It’s about doing all the research on the show, the writer, composer, the Vietnam War, the characters, where the show was first performed, the styles of theatre…… there is a lot to do.
They were also responsible for the set design as Lily is a talented artist and would like to go on to work in the arts industry, so doing the set design is helping her to get a portfolio together to send out to universities/arts schools. Roy is hoping to get into wonderful world of acting, and I hope he is a huge success with the portfolio we will put together for him.
All the IGCSE Drama students are involved in the show as well as a few extra students who are super cool.
This has been a hard show to put together as we have had a short semester to work, but with such a great cast, we have done it!
Please come and see the show and support the hard work that has been put in to bring together our community after the terrible time we have all suffered with covid-19.
One thing I would like to end by saying…. Many years ago I directed theatre in London and was privileged to work with some established actors, I thought that was what directing theatre was all about… but having spent nearly 6 years here directing shows I can honestly say that it amazes me how passionate and talented some of our students really are and its often more rewarding than being with famous actors because they often don’t realise just how good they are.
Hope to see you all at the show!
Jemma Green
