An ISA Science City education includes sport as one of the four pillars. With the inclusive programme, students can learn for fun, for play, for competition, and for potential high performance. Students in Physical Education classes learn the fundamental movement skills and attitudes necessary for success in sport.
ISA Science City has become a member of two sport leagues: GISES (Guangzhou International Sports Elementary Schools) and PRC (Pearl River Conference). By participating in these leagues, selected students will be able to compete against other international school teams. As a part of their preparation for league events, students train twice a week with their teams to perfect physical skills, learn values such as respect and cooperation, and develop strategies that will help them succeed.
At ISASC, we see sport as an integral part of educating the entire child. It is in training and competition that children learn about commitment, rules, systems and collaboration. They learn about success and failure. They develop motor skills and eye-hand coordination. For us, we view sport as one of four areas essential to the education, providing children with learning opportunities beyond the classroom.
Sean joined ISA Science City International School as our founding Sport Coordinator, bringing to the school a very strong understanding of sport within Guangzhou, the Greater Bay Area and further abroad.
Sean is a graduate of McGill University of Montreal, Canada, where he received his Bachelor of Education in Physical Education and English Literature and played American Football. He has been an Athletic Director, teacher and successful coach of football, basketball and volleyball at several international schools in China, and was most notably one of the founding Athletic Directors of ACAMIS.
Sean joins us having worked at our partner school, ISA Tianhe. Prior to this, he worked as Director of Sport at another international school within Guangzhou. Sean has a passion for sport and helping students pursue their dreams of excellence both on and off the sports field, all of which are key elements in the four pillars of sport at ISA Science City.
