I am Mbali from South Africa.
My philosophy is simple, happy, and interested children learn organically. I believe in facilitating an environment that allows children to explore within a guided framework. When children are free to explore different methods of learning through trial and error, they learn to take charge of their education and learning path and develop personal awareness and cultural identities.
They learn the culture of independence, but they also feel free to seek and accept help when needed. This can be done when there is mutual respect between the teacher and students. Mutual respect develops in an open environment with clearly outlined goals.
I am particularly excited to be working in the new and currently the only school for Hong Kong and Macao students founded under the guidance of a leading university on the Chinese mainland.
I am happy that this brings in the potential for a development of a brand-new learning culture that will add to and enrich the current learning sphere in the Mainland, Hong Kong, and Macao education.
With English as the learning base, students can soak in the larger international culture from their diverse international teachers who bring in another world of diversity. This gives ASJ students an added advantage.
I appreciate that ASJ is a wholesome school in that students are encouraged to achieve academically and develop in other aspects of life through a variety of extra mural activities and cultural programs. I am looking forward to an opportunity to add my own individualized touch and help broaden the students’ horizons even more, as they learn to appreciate multi-culturalism and diversity.
I am also excited about the ongoing professional development activities ASJ opens to teachers as this ensures the growth of this new and groundbreaking learning philosophy. The continuous sharing and exchange environment is a recipe for success. A working environment with a solid plan to achieve a chief common goal, using the advantage of diversity available among the staff members, will encourage teachers to use their personal strengths for the growth of the whole ASJ community. When staff members feel seen and heard they willingly do more. I was personally encouraged from the interview stages when I realised that the principal really read my resume and was aware of my other strengths outside of the teaching environment.
This confirmed to me that wholesomeness is encouraged at ASJ. I look forward to working with our very multi-cultural and international students, colleagues, and management team. I am particularly interested in the growth of this project under the guidance of the esteemed University.
