Recently, the 2022 Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area Regatta (Guangzhou Station) came to an end. ASJ Grade 9 student Penny's team, the Dream Team, stood out and won the runner-up in the junior category.
Runner-up
in the cold wind
This year, low temperatures and high winds coincided with the event, making the event much more difficult and challenging. The race is divided into four rounds, each with two rounds, two rounds and one crossing the finish line. In the first round of the event, Penny faced a major challenge.

Because she did not see the signal clearly, Penny's sailboat became the last ship to set sail. But she and the crew did not give up easily, and became more concentrated, doing their best, and even surpassing four ships. After the first rounding, in order to overtake the rest of the ships, Penny and the crew braved the wind and opened the sails. But the wind was too strong, and the ship fell into crisis after rotating 180 degrees, and half of Penny's body fell into the icy sea. Gritting her teeth, she worked hard with the crew to finally adjust the boat and finish fourth in the first round.
In the next two rounds of the competition, Penny was not discouraged, worked harder under the shortage of personnel and fell into the water, and achieved good results in a row, showing his resilience and sportsmanship.
In the face of the hard-won runner-up, Penny is proud of herself, and she is also very frank to face and reflect on the wrong judgment and operation in the competition. Despite a lot of unsatisfactory schedules, she gained a lot of experience. In Penny's view, sailing is like a condensation of alternative life experiences, which will go smoothly and against the wind, but in the end, it will definitely reap growth. And she will continue to train hard and achieve even better results in the next events.
Explore new potentials
and herself
Loving sailing is the embodiment of Penny's self-exploration. At sea, every second the direction of the wind, current and speed is different, which undoubtedly poses a danger to the sea. But in Penny's opinion, everything at sea will become interesting. She can not only enjoy the sea breeze and waves, but also experience the excitement of sailing, which is why Penny has insisted on practicing sailing for four years.
In ASJ, Penny was also fascinated by rich range of ECA courses. It was because of the ECA course that she and other students found their hobbies. When she first took the graffiti course,Penny was liked to doodle, and unlike the exciting sailing, ECA's graffiti course immersed her in the world of color. ASJ's classes allow Penny to explore new interests and potentials in addition to studying and sailing, which is one of the reasons why she chose ASJ.
▲Penny continues to explore herself in the ASJ classroom
After coming to ASJ, Penny's parents obviously felt that in addition to the improvement of her grades, Penny became more conscious and motivated. In addition to thanking teachers and students for their encouragement and help, this is inseparable from Penny's efforts.
