In the afternoon of 12 October 2023, Mr. Cao Xue will share with you how to look at the world with "design eyes", and from the designer's point of view, to target the target, and to make a design that takes into account the contexts and perspectives of internal and external communication and acceptance.
More than 500 ideas, tens of thousands of sketches, thousands of revisions, more than 100G of 3D files ...... Cao Xue led a team of teachers and students from the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts to design the "Ice Dun Dun", which was officially recognised as the mascot for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics. As early as 2017, Cao Xue teacher designed Guangzhou's first city image LOGO has been widely praised.
Teacher Cao Xue once said, "Design is striving to do things that please without strain. If we make a formula for design, the denominator should be merit and the numerator should be hard work." This is related to the theme of this lecture, "Design Eye". This is closely related to the theme of this lecture, "Design Eye". In Cao Xue's opinion, different audiences have very different perspectives. When designing, Cao Xue will deconstruct the design theme based on her "common sense" of the audience's reading habits, living habits, and other "common sense", so as to achieve a high degree of combination of artistic creation and professionalism, and to create works that impress people.
Taking Guangzhou's first city logo as an example, Mr Cao Xue explained how to design by interpreting the audience's living habits. As our reading habit is from left to right, the main image of the logo design, Guangzhou Tower, should be "low on the left and high on the right" in order to appear more upright visually.
"A city is also a brand, and brands have touchpoints, and it is through a number of touchpoints that the people feel the beauty of the city." Through Ms Cao Xue's sharing, students learnt that art creation must also start from life, and that the combination of life and art can produce a great chemical reaction.

Piano is one of the representative instruments in Western music, while the Yellow River Piano Concerto is one of the representative works in Chinese music.
On the afternoon of 12 October 2023, Guangdong Soong Ching Ling Foundation came into ASJ Primary School, and Ms. Liu Job held a Yellow River Piano Concerto class for ASJ primary school students.
As a masterpiece of modern Chinese music, the Yellow River Piano Concerto is full of strong Chinese cultural elements, and it skilfully combines Chinese classical music and Western classical music to create a brand new style of music. In this class, Mr Liu led the students not only to hear the pianist's wonderful performance, but also to gain a deeper understanding of the history and cultural background behind this piece.
In the class, Mr Liu explained the background of the Yellow River Piano Concerto, which was composed to celebrate the founding of New China. The melody and theme of the piece contain good wishes for the prosperity of the motherland, and also reflect the historical background and cultural atmosphere of the society at that time. At the same time, the students also learnt about the playing techniques and structure of the piece, and gained a deeper understanding of the essence of the piece and its interpretation.
At the end of the class, some students said that they felt the deep cultural heritage and artistic value contained in the Yellow River Piano Concerto. Through this class, Mr Liu not only made the students deepen their understanding and appreciation of music, but also made the children love our motherland and culture more.
In this era of multiculturalism and communication, we should pay more attention to the artistic creations in our lives, so that these excellent works can be spread and promoted more.
