On December 16, the "Great Motherland Magnificent Mountains and Rivers, Joining Hands for a New Journey - 2023 Inter-city Reading Activity for Youths in the Greater Bay Area (Trilingual)" organized by the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Schools Association for the Development of School Organizations and hosted by ASJ was successfully held at ASJ. More than 30 representatives from the Guangzhou Municipal Education Bureau, the Chinese Education Association of Macao and the first batch of member units of the Collaboration of School Sponsoring Organizations attended the meeting on site; the person in charge of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals in Hong Kong participated in the meeting through the Internet; and the Executive Principal of ASJ, Mr. Fengyan, participated in the meeting on site.
The organization of this joint reading activity is an important initiative to guide the youth of the Bay Area on all fronts to join hands and integrate into the overall development of the country. During the event, nine performances were presented by eight schools, including Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers Wong Cho Bau School, Sir Ellis Kadoorie Primary School of Hong Kong and ASJ, featuring recitation of the classics, supplemented by forms of folk music, Cantonese Opera, calligraphy, etc., which vividly explained the long history of Chinese culture and the profundity of the Chinese civilization in the form of art, and expressed the determination of students from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to firmly uphold their cultural self-confidence and to It also expressed the determination of the students from Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao to be firm in their cultural self-confidence, to forge a strong sense of community among the Chinese nation, and to actively participate in the construction of a strong nation and national rejuvenation.
Mr Huen Ng, Director of the Tung Wah Group of Hospitals, Hong Kong, recognized the work and efforts made by the Hong Kong-Guangdong-Macao Collaboration for the Development of School Sponsoring Bodies in the past two years since its establishment. He hoped that the Association would have greater development in the coming year and that the school sponsoring bodies in Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao would contribute more to the nurturing of young people. Mr. Chan Chi-fung, Vice President of the Chinese Education Association of Macao, said that Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao share the same roots and that through intercity co-curricular study, which is a proven means of exchange, students from the three places will develop a stronger sense of identification with Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao, as well as with the country as a whole.
Prof. Ouyang Guohua from Guangdong University of Foreign Studies delivered a special lecture - "Finding Discourse in Intercultural Communication in Chinese Practice". He said that misunderstandings and collisions between different cultural values, national ideologies and communicative practices in today's world have become increasingly intense, and consultations and dialogues aimed at resolving these conflicts are often conducted in the form of debates. He started with the international paradigm of debate to give a relevant introduction.
At the end of the event, there was also an award ceremony for "The Great Motherland's Magnificent Mountains and Rivers, Joining Hands for a New Journey", as well as learning and exchange activities for related educational achievements.
