24 August 2026 marked the first day of the new academic year at ISA Tianhe. After the quiet of the summer, the campus was once again filled with laughter, footsteps and the vibrant energy of young learners. Returning students walked through the gates with confidence and familiarity, while new families joined our community with excitement and anticipation. Together, they marked the beginning of a journey that is both personal and shared - a journey of inquiry, learning, growth and belonging.

2026年8月24日，爱莎天河新学年第一天。沉寂了一个暑假的校园，再次被笑声、脚步和孩子们蓬勃的朝气填满。老生们带着自信与熟悉感走进校门，新生家庭则怀着期待与憧憬，踏入这个温暖而多元的社区。这一天，不仅是一个学期的开始，更是一段关于探究、成长与归属感的全新旅程。

At the school gates, our leadership team welcomed every child with warm smiles and personal greetings. Friends reunited with hugs and high-fives, while new classmates introduced themselves. The air was filled not only with the excitement of a new school year, but also with a strong sense of connection - one that lies at the heart of our learning community.

We believe that a child’s sense of belonging begins the moment they feel seen, heard and valued. From the very first day, we intentionally create an inclusive environment where every student, regardless of background, language or culture, can find their place, develop their confidence and discover their voice.

Early Years: Learning Through Wonder

In our Early Years programme, the first week provided a warm and joyful introduction to the new school year. Through songs, movement, stories, sensory exploration and purposeful play, our youngest learners began to explore their environment, build trusting relationships with their teachers and form new friendships.

在幼儿园，开学第一周是一场温柔而快乐的适应之旅。孩子们通过歌曲、律动、故事讲述和感官游戏，慢慢探索新环境，与老师建立信任，并交出了人生中最初的友谊。

Alongside these important first experiences, learning began from day one. Children settled into classroom routines and engaged in age-appropriate phonics, early literacy and mathematics, alongside rich opportunities for language development and inquiry. From listening carefully to sounds and sharing stories to exploring numbers, patterns and concepts through practical experiences, each activity was carefully designed to build strong foundations for future learning.

At this stage, inquiry is not simply about finding the right answer; it is about nurturing the curiosity that leads children to ask questions, investigate possibilities and make connections. Every “why?”, every moment of wonder and every new discovery can become the starting point for deeper learning. Through a balance of purposeful teaching, exploration and play, we nurture not only essential knowledge and skills, but also the confidence and curiosity to become lifelong learners.

Primary: Inquiry That Connects

In Primary, learning was well under way from the very first week. Units of Inquiry (UOI), Mathematics, Chinese and language elective lessons began with purpose and clear expectations, creating opportunities for students to make meaningful connections across different areas of learning. Students are encouraged to look beyond the boundaries of individual subjects, explore real-world concepts from different perspectives and apply their knowledge in increasingly thoughtful and meaningful ways.

小学部的课堂，开学第一周便已全面“动”起来。探究单元（UOI）、数学、中文、语言选修课井井有条地开展，构建出真正的跨学科学习体验。学生们跳出单一学科的边界，围绕真实世界的议题，从不同视角汲取养分，将知识内化为整体的理解。

Guided by their teachers, students are already asking purposeful questions, developing hypotheses and testing their ideas through discussion, investigation and hands-on learning. Rather than simply receiving information, they are encouraged to think critically, make connections and take an active role in their learning. This lies at the heart of the IB approach: learning that is relevant, challenging, engaging and connected to the world around us.
