选择入读AIC主要是看中AIC的小班教学以及对IB教育理念的充分贯彻。在开放日时,我曾旁听了一节英语课,被老师深入浅出的教学技巧以及同学之间融洽的氛围吸引。AIC拥有相对平均的师生比例,这也令我认为老师与同学间能有更多的交流机会。
AIC拥有相对开放的校园环境,这使不太适应传统学校高压环境的我感到快乐和充实。其次,AIC鼓励学生探索感兴趣的知识领域,例如中文课上的诗歌创意写作、丰富多彩的CAS活动等等。此外,相对于其他的国际学校,AIC的总体规模较小。这也使得师生之间的连结更加紧密,于我而言更像一个亲密的大家庭。
The small class size and full implementation of the IB education concept are the reason that I chose to study at AIC. During the open day, I once sat in on an English class, and was attracted by the teaching skills of the teacher, and the harmonious atmosphere among the classmates. AIC has an average class size which makes me think I could have more opportunities to communicate with teacher.
I am not very adaptable to the high pressure environment of traditional schools. Studying in AIC makes me feel satisfied and fulfilled, because of its relatively open campus environment. AIC encourages students to explore areas of knowledge of interest, such as creative writing of poetry in Chinese classes, diversified CAS activities, etc. In addition, AIC's overall size is relatively smaller compared to other international schools. This also makes the connection between teachers and students closer, more like a big family to me.

在AIC的三年里,我参加了许多有意义的活动。如DP1时代表学校参加Asdan商赛和中美线上模联会议,去年夏季则参加了NAQT知识碗的活动。商赛带给我实践的能力,使我第一次把课堂中的知识应用到实际的商业情境当中。中美线上模联为我大学专业的选择打下基础,同时培养我的英语表达能力与写作能力。而NAQT活动则给了我自我展现的平台,将长期以来在文学、历史及艺术领域的涉猎进行应用。这些活动也成为我大学申请简历上的亮点。
初来AIC时,我的英语水平并不高,有时甚至不能完全理解课堂上的内容。然而,在身边同学和老师的帮助下,我逐渐能理解课堂内容,甚至是输出自己的观点。课堂上对于全球事务的讨论也激起了我对全球政治、历史等方面的知识的兴趣,在学习过程中不断朝着成为全球公民的目标迈进。AIC融洽的学习氛围也使我变得更加乐观和健谈。
During my three years of study and life at AIC, I have participated in many meaningful competitions. For example, in DP1, i represented the school in the Asdan Business Competition and the Online MUN. I also participated in the NAQT in last summer. The business competition brought me the practical ability, which enabled me to apply the knowledge in the classroom to the actual business situation for the first time. The Online MUN has laid the foundation for my choice of majors in college, and at the same time cultivated my English expression and writing skills. The NAQT competition gave me a platform to express myself, applying my long-standing exposure in literature, history and art. These activities also became highlights on my college application resume.
When I first came to AIC, my English was not very good, and sometimes I could not even fully understand the content of the class. However, with the help of my classmates and teachers surrounding me, I can gradually understand the content of the class and even output my own opinions. The discussion of global affairs in the classroom also aroused my interest in knowledge of global politics, history, etc., and continued to move towards the goal of becoming a global citizen in the learning process. AIC's harmonious learning atmosphere also made me more optimistic and talkative.

在校园生活里, 给我留下深刻印象的是PDP4时参加校内举办的冬季音乐会,以及在DP1时两次组织CAS社团活动。冬季演奏会是我第一次在学校舞台上唱歌和演奏古琴。来自老师和朋友的鼓励也使我不那么怯场,逐渐培养了我的勇气和自信心。在DP1这一年里,我先后组织了中文文学与表演(Chinese Literature Performance)CAS以及MUN CAS。前者为我提供了一个召集校内文学爱好者的平台。在此过程中,成员们向彼此介绍自己喜欢的作家和作品,并进行相关二次创作。我也因创办这个活动而收获了友谊。在DP1下学期,我开展了MUN CAS,并在夏季帮助举办了AICMUN会议。我在此过程中负责介绍联合国会议程序,并帮助成员们修改草案。聆听成员们对于国际问题的见解,在做决议时相互磋商的过程使我更加耐心和包容。从初来乍到的MUN成员,到成为组织者,这一角色转变也见证了我在AIC的成长。
I was impressed by participating in the winter concert held in the school in PDP4, and organizing two CAS club activities in DP1. The winter recital was my first time singing and playing the “Guqin” on the school stage. The encouragement from teachers and friends also made me less stage fright and gradually cultivated my courage and self-confidence. During the year of DP1, I organized Chinese Literature Performance CAS and MUN CAS successively. The former provided me with a platform to gather literature lovers on campus. During this process, members introduced their favorite authors and works to each other, and carried out related secondary creations. I have also gained friendships from starting this event. In the second semester of DP1, I developed the MUN CAS and helped to host the AICMUN conference in the summer. In the process, I was responsible for introducing the UN conference procedures and helping members revise the draft. Listening to members' views on international issues and consulting each other when making decisions has made me more patient and tolerant. This transition from being a first-time MUN member to becoming an organizer has also witnessed my growth at AIC.

Dream school application
我申请的专业为政治科学/国际关系。对政治及国际关系学科的向往源自于我对全球事务的关心,以及希望为促进国际交流做贡献这一目标的决心。我申请了英国、荷兰及加拿大的大学。其中,英国的圣安德鲁斯大学和格拉斯哥大学是我目前的首选。前者在英国本土具有高知名度,且在国关领域保持着良好的口碑。后者则有着较强的国际知名度,且提供了丰厚的奖学金。
在申请阶段, 我的经验是在PDP4阶段开始准备雅思、托福等标化考试,并尽量在DP1取得满意的分数。我认为DP1是比较关键的一年,这一年的综合成绩将对大学申请尤为重要。分数的提高也需要对知识有着一定的理解,要能够融会贯通,巧解出题人意,同时输出自己的独特观点。
在撰写文书时,我注意强调我所选学科与大学专业的关系,并且着重写了我的MUN经历以及专业相关的课外阅读。文书中还可以提到自己感兴趣的项目,例如大学提供的选修课程。文书的写作有几个要点, 首先需要从具体的事例入手,并与自己的专业建立联系。内容上切勿跑偏,要注意展现自身与专业的匹配度。在介绍我的MUN经历时,我将侧重点放在我的职责和个人感悟上,并与我希望在大学完成的目标相结合。
The major I applied was Political Science/International Relations. The yearning for politics and international relations stemmed from my interest in global affairs and my determination to contribute to the promotion of international exchanges. I applied to universities in the UK, the Netherlands and Canada. Among them, the University of St Andrews and the University of Glasgow in the United Kingdom are my current first choices. The former has a high reputation in the UK and maintains a good reputation in the field of national customs. The latter has a strong international reputation and offers generous scholarships.
My experience is to start preparing for standardized tests such as IELTS and TOEFL in the tenth grade, and try to get satisfactory scores in DP1. I think DP1 is a more critical year where the comprehensive results of this year will be especially important for university applications. The improvement of the score also requires a certain understanding of knowledge, and it is necessary to be able to master it, solve the problem well, and at the same time output your own unique point of view. When writing the essay, I paid attention to emphasizing the relationship between my chosen subject and university major, and rewrote my MUN experience and professional-related extracurricular reading. The essay can also mention programs of interest, such as electives offered by the university.I think there are a few key points to writing an essay. First, you need to start with a specific case and establish a connection with your own profession. Don’t deviate from the content, and pay attention to showing your match with the profession. In presenting my MUN experience, I focus on my responsibilities and personal insights, combined with what I hope to accomplish at the university.

收到offer的时候很激动,很高兴能够获得心仪已久的大学的青睐, 这也让我觉得几年来的努力并没有白费。
我个人主要依据offer(conditional offer)的录取要求,大学的学生满意度以及后续就业情况来做决定。在做决定时,我会考虑到自身的成绩来选择冲刺学校。就就业而言,我也会考虑到未来的规划,如是否回国工作来选择专业和学校。此外,大学的学生满意度也是我格外看重的一点。我认为大学对学生的关怀将使留学生活更加顺利。
I was very excited when I received the offer, and I was very happy to be favored by my long-cherished university. It also makes me feel that years of hard work have not been in vain. Personally, I mainly make decisions based on the admission requirements of the offer (conditional offer), the student satisfaction of the university and the subsequent employment situation. When making a decision, I take my grades into consideration when choosing a sprint school. As far as employment is concerned, I will also consider future plans, such as whether to return to work in China to choose majors and schools. In addition, the university's student satisfaction is also a point of particular importance to me. I think the university's care for students will make us a smoother life when studying abroad.

我和Essie是在PDP4的时候认识的,随着交流的深入,我们逐渐发现对方与自己相同的价值观,也从中看到了她的美好。在学习上,Essie一直非常认真地对待所有科目,即便在非常疲惫的情况下,她也还是尽心尽力地做好所有工作,同时也不忘关心自己身边的同学们。在生活中,她也帮助我渡过了人生中的很多难关;虽然我比她大一个月,却总能更多的感受到她对我的关怀。选择国际关系作为专业的她,心中一直怀揣着帮助人们,改善社会的坚定目标;也真切地希望拥有着这么多好品质的她,能更加幸福地学习自己热爱的东西,and wish you all the best in the future!
Essie and I met when we were in PDP4. With the deepening of communication, we gradually discovered that the other party has the same values as ours, and we also saw her beauty in it. In terms of study, Essie has always taken all subjects very seriously. Even when she is very tired, she still tries her best to do all the work, and at the same time, she does not forget to care about her classmates. In life, she has also helped me through many difficulties in life; although I am a month older than her, I can always feel more of her care for me.
