Winter is coming to an end and everything is being renewed! The classroom is filled with the sounds of reading and laughter.
With the warmth of the spring sun, Ardingly College Zhongshan (Kindergarten) welcomed the spring term on 6 February 2023. The teachers were eagerly awaiting the return of the children and had prepared a number of fun and exciting activities to celebrate the New Year on the day of their return.
Let's relive the highlights of the day together!
A new year brings new hopes and a new blank sheet to develop and grow new dreams! Whether it’s their first time in school or they are leaving their parent’s arms again, the warm smiles of their teachers waiting at school instantly makes them feel welcome. And of course, a series of welcome activities are waiting for them!
Receiving their lucky bag, a series of snacks, a new gift, and a red packet also welcomes them to their new journey. We encourage our children to enjoy and immerse themselves in Chinese culture, to take all the wishes of their teachers and their own hopes and wishes in this new year and put them into action!
A small ceremony with a big heart! The first flag-raising ceremony of the new year was more touching and patriotic than usual.
Not only were the children older, but also, the children in the whole room were silent for a moment when the national anthem started to play and gave their clearest and most sincere salute. Yes, through a term of patriotic education, the children have developed a strong sense of patriotism and an unspoken sense of team spirit and collective honour.
During the short flag-raising time, Zoe and Nina, representatives from K3, took turns on stage and gave their best wishes for the beginning of the school year in both English and Chinese, "With the start of our new learning journey, I wish you happiness each and every day!"
It's time for the Lantern Festival! Catching the tail end of the year, the children joined in the celebration of the Lantern Festival on the day they returned to school! As one of the oldest festivals in China and the first full moon of the year, the origins and culture of the Lantern Festival were a popular topic for the children.
Helping children understand the holiday was supported by games and activities chosen by teachers related to science, cartoons and lively short stories, along with traditional activities and prepared a variety of fun games for the children to celebrate the festival.
Making sweet dumplings, jade rabbits and drawing red packets ...... The strong festive atmosphere filled every corner of the campus, which deepened the children's knowledge of the Lantern Festival and greatly stimulated their interest and ability to explore Chinese culture and inherit folk customs. This also reflects the long-standing educational philosophy of ACZS: embrace the culture of your country before you embrace the world!
What's a full school day without a vibrant bilingual class?
Put down your bags and step into the classroom for a new adventure with your fellow teachers!
It can be the endless mysteries of our culture classes, the whimsy of art classes, the melodies of music classes or the enthusiasm of sports classes, with the curiosity about the world and your thirst for knowledge, you are still the protagonists travelling your own path.
Children, welcome back!
When we see your bright smiles and lively attitudes again, we know that our story is about to resume. Every step of your growth over the past term has been etched in our minds, and those young faces, ever curious about the world, have grown and continued to shine at an amazing pace.
The future is like a huge painting, colourful and vast, waiting for us to paint it together. In the new year, let's gather the power of our dreams and efforts to revive this brush and add more colours to our lives by looking up at the stars!
