World Book Day, an annual event on April 23rd, is a festival for books and also for readers. This day was established to encourage more people to read and write, to respect and appreciate the literary, cultural, scientific and ideological masters who have made great contributions to human civilization, and to protect intellectual property rights. On this day each year, colorful celebrations and book promotion activities are held all over the world.
World Book Day takes place only one day, but it means to make every day a “reading day”. To guide students to read more, read good books, form a reading craze, and promote the spirit of reading education, the fourth graders of the International Department of Walton International School Xuzhou participated in the theme activity of "Imagine Spring, Share Reading".
Our students have been insisting on reading required literary works as well as interesting extracurricular inquiry books either in daily reading class or in the "Online Reading Clock-in" activity a few days before. What’s more, they make reading a habit.
The most wonderful part of the activity was “sharing”. Reading can enrich students’ inner world, while books are the bridge for their communication. Each of them aired his or her own views, actively recommended the books they read, and shared what they gained from reading. For example, the creation background of the book, favorite part of the book, and the highlight worth exploring in depth ...
The Chinese teacher also combined the reading div of "Happy Reading" in the textbook and suggested reading"100,000 Whys" for this semester.
Reading is not only about knowing what the book means but also what’s what. The author's subjective consciousness and judgment needs to be comprehended, and then internalized into the reader’s own thoughts and used for their own to solve their affairs and problems anytime. Only in this way can the book be appreciated fully to achieve the real goal of reading. Therefore, after reading and sharing, we should also think about how to read and convert the essence of the book into our own assets. As the saying goes, always take notes from your reading. Mastering good reading methods will benefit us a lot.
1. Circle and mark;
2. Make comments;
3. Write reading notes, such as extracts, outlines and reflections;
4. Make portable cards for memory and accumulation. They are convenient to read and recite at any time;
The most beautiful day in April meets the best reading day. Dear teachers, students, parents and friends, let’s read together! Reading ignites wisdom and nourishes the spirit. Books are the pilots of our life, leading us towards the light and the joy!
