Spelling Bee比赛如何开展?
How to Play Spelling Bee?
The competition is based on the wheel elimination system. Contestants take turns on stage and spell the word correctly within one minute of the judge saying the word. Children can ask for a definition by saying "definition please", a part of speech by saying "part of speech please" or an example sentence using the word by saying "sentence please". The word will only count if it is spelt and pronounced correctly, e.g. "Day D-A-Y Day". Our judging panel consisted of four Chinese and foreign teachers, the Pronunciation Officer, the Judges, the Recorder and the Timekeeper. They were fair and impartial throughout the contest.
一至六年级孩子们分为低、中、高三组进行角逐,每组共三轮比赛,根据参赛者的数量,每轮将会有3-7名选手淘汰出局,直至决出胜负。一旦选手拼错一个字母就会被淘汰,且不能重复修改自己的答案,是不是很刺激呢?选手们一个个绞尽脑汁,努力地回顾着自己刚刚还在台下背过的单词,观众们在现场也看得动魄惊心。接着就让我们一起来一睹选手们的风采吧!
Children from grades 1 to 6 were divided into three groups, Low, Middle and Upper, and competed in three rounds each. Depending on the number of participants, 3-7 players are eliminated from each round until a winner is determined. As soon as a contestant misses a letter, he/she is eliminated and can't revise his/her answer again, isn't that exciting? The contestants racked their brains trying to remember the words they had just memorised off-stage, and the audience was thrilled to see them in action. Let's have a look at the contestants!
小中组 Lower Primary Group
二、三年级的孩子们率先登场,他们沉稳干练的气场,面对挑战的冷静,震撼了所有的观众。一轮又一轮的PK,让人赞叹PYP学子们的英语素养。他们的认真努力,让比赛进入了第一个高潮。当他们每个单词都拼写正确时,他们的脸上洋溢着喜悦,赢得了观众们的掌声。现场气氛活跃,充满了对这些有抱负的拼写者们的鼓励和支持。
The first students to take to the stage were those in grades 2 and 3. Their calm and competent demeanour, even in the face of challenges, impressed the entire audience. Round after round of the spelling competition, the audience marvelled at the English skills of the PYP students. Their earnest efforts brought the competition to its first climax. As they spelled each word correctly, their faces lit up with joy, winning the applause of the audience. The atmosphere was lively and full of encouragement and support for these budding spellers.
小低组 Lower Primary Group
紧接着,一年级的孩子们萌萌登场。虽然是年纪最小的参赛选手,但是他们秩序井然的候场,清晰自信的发音,无不展现了PYP孩子的挑战者精神。观众席的赞叹络绎不绝!
Following grade 1 children were the youngest contestants. Despite their age, they demonstrated the challenging spirit of the CBFS PYP children with their orderly approach to the stage and clear, confident pronunciation. The audience was full of admiration!
随着选手逐渐淘汰,来到冠亚军争夺环节,紧张兴奋的氛围达到巅峰。能坚持到最后的同学实力都很强,实在难分胜负,评委组老师用尽了所有冠军赛的词汇后,在观众的欢呼声中,最终宣布了本场双冠军的诞生!两名Super Spellers同时拿下了这枚小低组金奖奖杯!每位选手都为自己的努力感到自豪,荣耀的时刻承载着他们对英语学习的热情和欢笑。
As the contestants were eliminated one by one, the tension and excitement reached its peak during the championship round. The students who made it to the end were all very strong, making it difficult to determine the winner. Finally, the judge exhausted all the championship-level vocabulary and announced the birth of a double champion to the cheers of the audience! Two Super Spellers took home the Jr Low gold trophy simultaneously! Each contestant was proud of their efforts, and the moment of honour was filled with passion for learning English and laughter.
小高组 Upper Primary Group
Finally, it was the turn of the grades 4, 5 and 6 brothers and sisters to show off their skills! The contestants sat nervously at the side of the stage, waiting for their turn at the microphone. They listened carefully to the words coming out of the speaker's mouth and asked questions to help them understand the word. After each spelling, they waited for the judge to say "correct" so they could move on to the next round. As the difficulty of the spelling increased with each round, the competition became fiercer and fiercer. With their rich vocabulary, quick reflexes and high level of accuracy, the contestants were fully motivated to meet the challenges posed by the teachers, who gradually increased the number of questions. In the face of long and difficult words, they were calm and composed, and in the face of regrettable failure, they were open about it and regrouped to start again. The faces of the teachers and judges were filled with joy and relief.
颁奖环节 Award Ceremony
最激动人心的时刻,莫过于颁奖仪式。翘首以盼,花落谁家?伴着悠扬的音乐声,国际教学部张天易主任激动地宣布了各年级的获奖名单,获奖选手们依次上台,领取了老师们精心准备的奖杯。当他们举起奖杯的那一刻,现场欢呼声雷动,每个人的脸上,都洋溢着赞赏与喜悦。
There is no more exciting moment than the awards ceremony. Accompanied by melodious music, Director Zhang Tianyi of the International Department announced the list of winners in each grade. The winners went on stage one by one to receive the trophies prepared by the teachers. The moment they lifted the trophies, the scene erupted in thunderous cheers, and everyone's face was full of appreciation and joy.
