山间守护者:走出课堂,以行动守护自然 I Guardians of the Mountain: Inquiry and Action in the Great Outdoors
长沙彼一米森林学校小学部二年级全体学生近期在UOI“共享地球”探究单元中,达成了一项富有意义的成长里程碑。围绕“守护地球、远离污染”的核心主题,孩子们从课堂学习者转变为积极践行的环保守护者。
本次探究之旅,引导学生深入理解人与自然的紧密关联,最终以岳麓山实地环保行动,为整个单元学习画上了圆满句号。
活动初期,我们引导学生开展扎实的探究学习。作为小小探索者,孩子们聚焦身边生态环境的变化与污染影响,重点掌握了以下内容:
空气污染与空气质量:了解空气质量的监测方式,探究影响空气质量的各类隐形因素;
水土污染:追踪废弃物在生态系统中的流转路径,分析其对动植物及周边环境的长期危害;
环保践行:反思日常行为习惯,探寻可落地的低碳生活方式,以细微行动助力生态保护。
唯有将知识转化为行动,才能真正实现探究价值。孩子们提前筹备数周,在课堂上开展垃圾分类实践,通过查阅资料梳理抗污染方法,逐步建立起对周边环境的责任意识。
本单元的亮点环节,是联合家长开展的岳麓山环保实践活动。这并非一次普通的户外出行,而是一场兼具意义与责任的环保行动。学生与家长携手协作,沿着山间步道细致捡拾垃圾,清理沿途杂物,用双手为岳麓山增添洁净。
垃圾捡拾结束后,孩子们运用所学的垃圾分类知识,对收集的废弃物进行细致分类,明确可回收物与其他垃圾的区分标准。这场沉浸式实操体验,让孩子们深刻体会到:平凡的小小行动,也能为家乡生态环境带来显著改变。
孩子们在活动中展现出的主动性与环保情怀,让我们倍感欣慰与骄傲。此次岳麓山之行也让孩子们深刻领悟:地球是人类共同的家园,守护这份美好,需要每一个人主动参与、携手同行。
Our Grade 2 community recently reached a significant milestone in our latest Unit of Inquiry, Sharing the Planet. Guided by the central idea that we must protect the planet from pollution, our students transitioned from classroom learners to active environmental stewards.
This journey was a deep dive into the interdependence of human and natural worlds, culminating in a powerful day of action on the slopes of Yuelu Mountain.
Inquiry First: Delve into Knowledge, Decode Ecological Secrets
The process began with a rigorous phase of inquiry. As young Inquirers, students investigated the Causation and Change occurring within our local ecosystems. We explored the complexities of:
Air Pollution and the AQI: Understanding how we monitor the air we breathe and the invisible factors that shift its quality.
Water and Land Pollution: Tracing how waste moves through biological systems and the long-term effects it has on the plants and animals that share our home.
Sustainable Practices: Analyzing our own habits to identify how we can modify our daily routines to benefit the environment.
Practice First: Make Full Preparations, Shoulder Environmental Responsibility
To turn these conceptual understandings into tangible change, our students stepped into their roles as Principled leaders. They spent weeks preparing by sorting waste in the classroom, using research skills to find ways to fight pollution, and developing a deep sense of Responsibility for the world around them.
Highlight Moment: Home-School Unity, Guard Yuelu’s Green Hills
The true highlight of the unit was our collaborative trip to Yuelu Mountain with our parent community. This was not merely a walk through nature, but a deliberate "Action" project. Working side-by-side with their families, students performed a thorough trash clean-up, carefully removing litter from the mountain trails.
The learning did not stop at the collection phase. Applying their knowledge of waste management, students engaged in sorting the collected items, distinguishing between what could be recycled and what was destined for the landfill. This hands-on experience provided a vivid lesson in what we can do to help, proving that even small hands can make a massive difference in restoring a local ecosystem.
We are incredibly proud of how our students demonstrated initiative and compassion throughout this unit. By cleaning the mountain, they realized that while the planet is a gift we all share, its preservation is a future we must actively and intentionally build together.
