The friendly football match between Chinese and foreign teachers and students of Xuzhou Walton International School was successfully held at noon on April 9th, on a fine sunny spring day. Before the start of the game, the arena was already crowded with people full of excitement, as the great showdown was about to begin.
Teams stood for the traditional photo and sportsmanly handshakes were exchanged before the referee's whistle got us underway. The players on both sides began to exchange attacking and defending plays in order to outdo each other. Performing their own tricks and skills; kicking off a breathtaking back and forth contest of wills, which made the audience cheer and shout with excitement. With their previous hard training, excellent defense and rapid offensive on the field, the players tried their best ending the game with a dramatic climax. The exquisite footwork, perfect dribbling, sharp shooting and wonderful cooperation of the players on both sides won the audience's applause. The cheerleaders shouted hard, celebrated for the players every time they scored a goal or a good tackle was made, and cheered words of encouragement every time they missed. This football match did not only strengthen the bonds and communication between teachers and students of Walton International School, but also enrich the campus cultural life, and demonstrate a healthy spirit of hard work, determination and above all, good sportsmanship.
With high fives, hearty handshakes and smiles on their faces after giving it their all; win or lose the players showed great respect for one another and also appreciation for the fans showing their support. We look forward to the next heated contest as Walton’s squad moves onto their next challenge!
