As news of melting glaciers and raging wildfires becomes an everyday occurrence, a feeling known as "eco-anxiety" is quietly spreading. It is not a case of unwarranted fear, but rather the most genuine and rational concern of this generation of young people for the future of the Earth.
In this episode of SMCS Talk, we turn our gaze to a broader future, focusing on the inner struggles of the "Climate Generation." Four speakers—Ian, Jack, and Patrick—come together to explore a central question: How Can We Turn Eco-Anxiety into Meaningful Action?

Echoes from the Audience:
When We Begin to Act

The sharing from the three speakers sparked deep reflection among the audience. During the interactive session, host Hallie invited everyone to share practical ways to improve the environment or reduce eco-anxiety.

One audience member's response was brief yet powerful:
"I think everyone can do is simply
be more conservative with your use of electricity."
A simple statement, yet it captured the essence of eco-action—starting by turning off lights and reducing waste. When everyone participates in their own way, that itself is the best remedy for anxiety.
Ian, Jack, and Patrick's talks, though from different perspectives, all pointed to the same core idea: eco-anxiety is not an enemy to be eliminated, but a force that can be transformed—beginning with love for the world, guided by awareness and action, and ultimately flowing into the current of change.
Thank you to the three students for their wonderful sharing, and to every teacher and student who listened attentively. We look forward to the next edition of SMCS Talk, where more young voices will shine.
