Many students who transition from the traditional Chinese education system to international high schools carry certain deeply ingrained habits, and Yulia was no exception. In her memory, she used to be a child who "acted very obediently" to win approval from adults, often suppressing her own thoughts and only raising her hand cautiously when she was absolutely sure she wouldn't make a mistake.

刚踏入UEC时，我还带着体制内的烙印，不习惯主动表达自己。

When I first entered UEC, I still carried the habits of the traditional system and wasn't used to speaking up proactively.

Stepping into high school brings academic challenges that every student must face. After deciding on Accounting and Finance as her major—a field that is relatively math-heavy and favorable for future employment—Further Maths became a major obstacle she had to overcome.

她坦言，高等数学的每一个知识点都充满了挑战，自己也曾经历过听得懂概念、却在做例题时跟不上班级节奏的沮丧时期。但在UEC，面对学业上的“卡壳”，学生从来不是孤军奋战。

She admitted that every topic in Further Maths was highly challenging. There were times when she understood the concepts but struggled to keep up with the class pace when solving practice problems, which left her feeling frustrated. However, at UEC, students are never left to face academic hurdles alone.

My Further Maths teacher invested a great deal of time and patience in me, giving me many extra tutoring sessions. The teacher's care became another source of motivation for me.

However, true home-school co-education involves the shared growth of the school, the student, and the family. During this process, Yulia's parents made a very wise adjustment:

我很感谢他们的思维能随着我的成长而改变。我选择了国际路线之后，自己变得越来越有主见。我的父母也开始尊重我的这种主体性，他们不再插手我的决定，而是转为在精神和物质上给予我最大的支持。

I am very grateful that their thinking evolved along with my growth. After choosing the international path, I became increasingly independent-minded. My parents also began to respect my autonomy. They stopped micromanaging my decisions and instead shifted to giving me the greatest support emotionally and financially.

从被动服从大人的安排，到能够完全独立为自己的人生做决定，昕妤在父母的放手与信任中，获得了绝对的主见。她不再需要通过外界的肯定来寻找安全感，而是长出了能够独立面对风雨的坚硬羽翼 。

From passively following adult arrangements to fully making her own decisions for her life, Yulia gained strong independence through her parents' willingness to let go and trust her. She no longer needed external validation to feel secure, but instead grew strong wings to face the future on her own terms.

Closing Thoughts

毕业典礼的发言中，Yulia提到了一个很温柔的词——“随机掉落的生活碎片”。面对高中生活中那些突如其来的考试、忙碌的假期和未知的活动，她已经学会了从容地去接住它们。
