"A night of penetrating rain, a chill to my chest, I'm in autumn."
Autumn in Shenzhen is a great time to get close to nature, with rain and wind, flowers and leaves.
The children put on their soft knitted shirts, meet the sunshine, learn about the typhoon and leapt into the autumnal weather.
At BMH, where the natural environment is wonderful, children never lack the opportunity to get close to nature. This time, there is another elaborate "secret garden" on the campus ready to meet everyone.
BMH participated in the "Community Garden" project in Longhua District, working with Mission Hills Street Office, Mission Hills Group, Mission Hills Craft Workshop and City Treasures Cultural Arts Centre to build an international community garden.
Building a garden,
we mean it.
The little prince from planet B612 has a beautiful rose garden, he becomes friends with the roses and watches the sunset with them 43 times a day.
What about a garden for our children to spend a happy childhood with?
After much consultation and discussion, the site for the garden was chosen at the entrance of the Pre school, a place where children and parents are sure to pass every day and where the sun will shine every day.
After measuring and preparing the design for the renovation of the garden, the Pre school teachers and children began to work together to contribute their ideas to the construction of the garden.
Awnings, vegetable gardens, cobbled paths, gazebos, tunnels, flower promenades, vines, ponds, sunflower gardens ......
The teachers came up with many ideas to build during the design workshop, creating a fairy tale like paradise for the children.
The children even had wild ideas, building insect parks, cactus gardens, children's playgrounds ......
The stones laid on the garden path were also painted by their own hands. It is such a romantic and proud thing to have one's work left on the path that one passes every day.
All the preparations for the garden to be born are childlike and everything is colourful and full of hope.
The Garden,
will meet Every BMH Family
The process of building something from scratch is arduous, the development from abstract to concrete is challenging, but the power of building together is strong.
The children all benefited greatly from this process. Insect houses and bird houses were built to give the children a full understanding of natural life, and over 50 types of plants, including aromatic plants, nectar plants and plants for all seasons, were planted to give the children the closest contact with nature observation.
The Pre school has also incorporated the shared garden into the whole term's 'Forest Camp' nature curriculum, so the children can enjoy the beautiful garden to their heart's content.
After more than four month of planning and building, the garden will be ready for you in the beginning of November.
What kind of garden did we end up with?
We don't need any adjectives or words to give you a preview. We hope that everyone at BMH will be able to experience the garden for themselves and feel a little bit of autumnal bliss.
We look forward to seeing you at the BMH!
