Ms Ouyang shared an article named “Let’s Keep Your Voice Down” in P2 demo lesson. In class, she first played various games with students. In one of the games called "Drumming and Passing Flowers", she guided students to think about the various noises in life; through the activities of "Small Microphones", the students were divided into groups, and compete to accurately convey the king’s orders as quickly as possible.
Afterwards, the students had a group discussion, share the different occasions where they need to be quiet, and analyze the reasons. In the "Performance" activity, the students turned into little movie kings, demonstrating how to remind others not to make a loud noise in public places.
In P5 demo class, Mr Wang shared with students the theme of Unit 3 "Proactively Refuse Tobacco, Alcohol and Drugs" in a humorous way. Mr Wang shared the harms of smoking from various aspects.
Students learned that smoking harms not only themselves, but also the people around them. In addition, the students also understood the physical harm and possible consequences of drinking alcohol. Encouraged by Mr Wang, the students actively shared their ideas, and there was continuous applause in the class.
After class, Mr. Zhang hosted a mini-lecture with the theme of "Taking Roots in Students’ Life, Making Morality Classes More Effective". She pointed out that the most important thing is to use children's life as the basis of the curriculum. From the introduction of topics, the arrangement of activities, the experience of the situation, to the expansion and extension, the children's life is the center.
Later, Mr Wang and Ms Ouyang shared their lesson preparation experience. Mr Wang proposed that on the basis of the existing textbooks, taking into account the reactions and needs of students at the same time. Ms Ouyang shared how she used games and activities to guide students to develop good behaviors based on the learning characteristics of lower grade students. In the discussion session, teachers asked questions and exchanged opinions on the difficulties of teaching materials, activity design, and implementation of target behaviors, which stimulated in-depth collision and thinking.
First Secretary Ms Xiong made the conclusion, hoping that this event can sow a seed for the moral education of the teachers of BMH, provide a possibility, find a path, and in the future implementation of moral and legal courses, it will be able to design courses closer to the characteristics of students, pay attention to students, cultivate children's good moral character and legal awareness, and help children establish a sense of citizenship in observing discipline and law from an early age.
Through today's teaching and research activities, BMH teachers broadened their horizons and improved their professional abilities. In the future, the practice of our moral education curriculum can be more in line with the characteristics of our students and produce better results.
