School will be opening soon and teachers have been preparing for the new semester. Besides cleaning up the school and preparing a surprise opening ceremony, learning about new skills is also crucial. Teachers spent a week in the training camp learning about “Drama education and educational drama.” Let’s check it out!
The first lesson is understanding drama education through learning the history of drama. Paying tribute to the classics, through learning about Shakespeare and other drama masters, teachers hope not only to teach children a performing art, but also to incorporate drama into the daily life to enrich the curriculum through creativity and fun ideas.
Teachers learned that ballon can be so heavy that they cannot move or so light that it carry them to the sky. Teachers learned that a performance can be so creative. Through pantomime, teachers obtained new experience and knowledge about the methodology, performance skills, and professionalism of drama. A professional drama actor can merely use a ballon or a mirror to create a amazing performance.
The most practical part throughout the entire training was the little games. These child-friendly, age appropriate games allow teachers to have fun with young children. For example, from the “Mirror Game” in the picture, can you guess who is leading the action?
A self-designed drama show is indispensable in a drama training. Teachers are divided into three groups to prepare a drama show after learning about the performance techniques and an short hour of preparation. In the preparation, teachers learned about the process of producing a drama show, training methods, and other details in the performance. Teachers were looking forward to coach our children in the coming semester!
The three day training ends in the laughers of teachers. Walking out of their classroom, teachers will bring back what they learned to MKS, and bring back new ideas into the classroom to provide more interesting activities for the children. Creating a immersive drama education through educational drama, MKS is looking forward to the arrival of all children!
