"I feel like a flower in full bloom when I go back to school."
In Ms Jessie's Chinese lesson today at P2B, the children used all their words and emotions to tell us how they felt when they returned to school.
When we go back to school, everything is wonderful and all happy. When we go back to school, everything is familiar and all new.
Just as 'happy' is being interpreted in a variety of ways by children today, so too does 'new' have so many meanings today.
"New" means leaving the past behind and starting another chapter.
Saying 'Bye' to online learning and 'Hi' to the real BMH. After nearly two months of face-to-face screen time, the children are once again sitting at their desks, with their classmates by their sides and the teacher standing at the podium ...... These may seem like normal experiences, but today they seem so new again.
"New" means reorganising your mood and facing something different.
Are you happy, worried, anxious or excited to be back at school? Are you a bit nervous and unsure about facing your classmates and teachers you haven't seen for a while? In a different environment from home, with a more regular school routine, the children need to readjust their pace and step into the new track with ease.
"New" means full of hope and ready for the next moment.
When we stand at the 'beginning' again, the possibilities are endless. Next, we will be able to learn new units on campus, do a variety of activities in a structured way and take part in interesting school-based programmes ...... School life will be full of excitement and surprises.
May this new beginning give all the children a new attitude, a new hope, and a new possibility.
