On Monday 13 of June Bromsgrove School Mission Hills Maths teachers and teamed up with Guanlan Central School to share some Maths Masterclasses.
Firstly,GCS provided a most interesting and stimulating lesson to P4c on 'Time'.
The P4C students benefited from this lesson by learning how to save time and how to cook all the pancakes in the shortest possible time using the most optimal method. The P4C students showed a positive side in the classroom by coming up with a variety of innovative ideas and concepts, which were well received by the teachers who observed the class.
Then our own Ms Bonnie engaged the brainiacs in P5B with a surface area wrapping challenge par-excellence.
The class had a lively discussion in P5B, exploring various packaging methods and finding the most paper-saving packaging method by calculating the surface area. The students' thinking was very impressive.
The DoE Maths advisor, Zhenwang Wu provided the gathering of BMH and GCS maths teachers with his insights into how to raise achievement in Mathematics.
We are grateful to the both schools' Matheamtics Teams for their willingness to share their best practice and to our students for their excellent mathematical attitudes and constructive application. Our thanks also to Ms Xiong and Professor Zhang for their facilitation.
