What do you like about chess?
I like that it is fun and that it trains your thinking skills. It is also fun because you can play against other people. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.
-Charlie Y. (G7)
How was your experience playing in a competitive tournament?
It is interesting because you can play against players from all around China. It was also exciting because the games were timed so you had to thinking quickly about your moves. Critical thinking is very important in chess.
What first got you interested in chess?
I first got interested in chess because I liked how the pieces and board looked. When I started to try and play, I discovered chess is a unique game and totally new to me.
-Bowen C. (G6)
What does it take to be a successful chess player?
First you need to practice your skills. Second you need to accept the games that you lose and try to learn from your mistakes and blunders. Third you need more experience, and you get this by playing more games and different opponents. Finally, the last thing you need to be a successful chess player is to think before you move and use critical thinking skills.
