It is wonderful and fascinating when children begin to read, to wonder at the strange, magnificent and enriching world, to long to understand the confessions of a flower in a book, the friendship between a bear and a rabbit.
At BMH, we have a 'library lesson' for children from preschool onwards. The library's collection of nearly 30,000 books, the library's specialist reading teachers, the book corners in each classroom and the reading lessons taught by Chinese and foreign teachers all help to immerse children in the pleasures of reading.
And today, in the spirit of World Book Day, the children entered their favourite stories as a farmer, a tree, a caterpillar, a cat ...... They built their own beautiful worlds based on the stories in their books!
Every child in every class rehearsed and prepared very early for this performance, and teachers spent a lot of time preparing rehearsals and props for the show. All of our children enjoyed the spotlight on the stage as well as the fun of playing and watching the performance.
There are no good or bad stories, no bad or good performances, and every child deserves a round of applause. We invited a panel of parent judges to come and enjoy each performance and they were able to find the highlights of each class, the best dressed, the best acted, the best presentation skills ...... Just like each of our children, they all have something special to shine.
With so much entertainment available today, we hope to arouse children's interest in reading in a variety of ways, to feel the plot in the performances, to deepen their understanding in the music, and to add to the fun with games. We believe that when children turn the pages again and see the gingerbread man, the caterpillar, the farmer and the tree ..... they will have their own unique imagination!
