To our new students, welcome to ISNS. We are looking forward to getting to know you and helping you learn and grow.
To our amazing returning students, welcome back to school! We missed you and are excited to embark on another year of learning, laughter, and fun.
Let's make this year a memorable one, where we challenge ourselves, support each other, and create lasting memories. Remember, you are the authors of your own success story, and we are here to provide you with the tools and guidance to make it extraordinary. Here is to a remarkable school year!
To our parents, we are very excited to welcome your child to ISNS for the 2023-24 academic year! Our teachers and administrators are eager to see your child on the first day of school, Thursday, August 24th.
Our academic program gets stronger each year and ISNS continues to be the top IB school in Shenzhen. As your child embarks on their learning journey this year, you can feel confident that they will be getting the best education possible. Addie Loy

Addie starts her new teaching journey this year as ISNS head of school, she has been working at ISNS for over 10 years.
Addie holds a Master’s degree in Teaching, with a focus English as a Second Language (TESOL) from Western Governor’s University in Utah. Currently Addie is pursuing a doctorate in international comparative education. She is also an IB workshop leaders and school visit team member, has led workshops at the ACAMIS leadership conference, ACAMIS EAL conference, and the Asia-Pacific International School’s conference.
She believes that students should feel empowered and become independent through inquiry, problems solving, and working with their peers. She believes in celebrating the cultural differences between students and encouraging students to try new and exciting experiences.
Kandace Law
Director of Student Services

Kandace completed her Bachelor of Arts degree majoring in Psychology from the University of Missouri-Columbia, where she focused her honor’s thesis on school counseling.She obtained her certification in Play Therapy at Mid-America Nazerene University, and received her credentials as a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and Registered Play Therapist (RPT) to apply her skills as a private therapist.
Prior to joining ISNS, She worked in the Greater Kansas City area in the Midwest, USA, and was in leadership positions in her district, regional, and state-level associations.
Kandace utilizes a child-centered and holistic approach to supporting students with their academic, personal/social and career/college development and needs. She has a passion for allowing students to express themselves as individuals and take agency in their own goals and experiences. Kandace’s skills in leadership, a multi-tiered system of support, and supporting the student services staff will ultimately serve our students to reach their highest potential.
Chelsea Donaldson
HS Principal (G9-12)

After graduating from university in 2006, with a Bachelor of Secondary Education and a Bachelor of Commerce, Chelsea taught Year 10 - 12 Accounting, Business and Legal Studies in local high schools for seven years.
She spent a number of years in a regional consultancy position aimed at skilling teachers in collecting and analysing student achievement data.
She worked in an international school in Central Vietnam as Deputy Principal and is currently working towards completing her master’s degree in Educational Business Administration.
Chris Irvin
MS Principal (G6-8)

Chris studied Outdoor Adventure Leadership at Laurentian University. This unique experience allowed Chris to work in many different careers for several years before returning to school for his BEd at Queen’s University.
He has taught many subjects over the years and held many roles but has a very strong background in physical & health education and school leadership. He believes in both lifelong learning and sharing what he has learned and is proud of both his Master’s in Athletic Administration, his International School Leadership Certificate and the many presentations and workshops he has given in education and leadership over the years.
He is continuing his learning journey through leadership courses in Canada working through a 10-course program eventually earning him a diploma in school leadership.
Thomas Tucker
Upper Primary Principal (G3-5)

Thomas completed his Bachelor of Business and Administration Degree at the University of New Brunswick. He earned a Bachelor of Education Degree from Acadia University, a Master of Education degree from the University of New Brunswick and his TESOL certification.
Thomas is a strong supporter of play-based and inquiry-based learning and believes in the value of helping students develop key skills that will help them as they enter a future unknown to us now. Thomas aims to make every student see the value they bring to the school community by developing a caring, principled community of empowered learners.
Michael Lattimore
Lower Primary Principal (K3-G2)

Michael has a PGCE and a Master's Degree in International Education from the University of Sunderland, and Michael has also completed the UK National Professional Qualification in Headship.
Michael has taught in IB schools in South America and Asia. Michael has worked as PYP Coordinator, leading that school to achieve its IB Accreditation. As a Head of Primary/EY, he has overseen IB Evaluation and CIS Accreditation.
Michael believes that students should be active learners with voice, choice, and ownership in their learning. Children should have their curiosity engaged through play-based and inquiry learning in a safe learning environment.
Martine Lusignan
DP Coordinator (G11-12)

Martine is a passionate educator and leader from Montreal, Canada. Prior to her academic teaching profession, she was a professional classical ballet dancer, teacher, and artistic project director. After her artistic career, she studied organizational leadership at HEC Montreal, political sciences at Glendon University (BA), and French education for high school at Laurentian University (BA). She was teaching at Toronto French School Board before joining ISNS, in 2019. Creating a safe, positive, and motivating environment in the classroom inspires Martine as she fosters an open-minded and confident attitude.
In June 2023, Martine received a Master of Educational Leadership and Wellbeing from Southern Cross University, Australia. As a leader in the ISNS DP division, she aims to promote excellence by providing support to students and teachers. She uses the IB skills such as reflectiveness, thinking, organization, and collaboration to stimulate academic growth, open-mindedness and self-esteem for our outstanding students who are the future groundbreakers of society.
Ernald Boyd
MYP Coordinator (G9-10)

Ernald studied at the University of Cape Town where he received a BMus degree in Music education with piano and saxophone being his majors.
For more than 22 years he has taught students ranging from ages 3 to grade 12. During a large portion of this time, he had the role as the Head of Arts Department.
In addition, Ernald has worked with community choirs in South Africa for 10 years feeding his passion for music.
Gretchen Orwig
MYP Coordinator (G6-8)

Gretchen completed her Bachelor degrees in Linguistics and Spanish and got her Master of Education at Rockhurst University.
She taught at two secondary schools in the United States before she moved to Malaysia. In Malaysia, she trained English teachers in government schools. After two years, she moved to Myanmar and taught English. Missing Malaysia very much, she returned and spent four years teaching Humanities at international schools in Malaysia.
Gretchen hopes to be a great contributor to the thriving ISNS community of learners.
Laurie Edmonstone
UPYP Coordinator (G3-G5)

Laurie is working towards a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Southeastern Oklahoma State University, where she is expected to graduate in December and also holds a bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts with an Emphasis in K-12 Art Education.
With nine years of experience as an IB Continuum educator, including five years in international education, Laurie brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role at ISNS. She is currently in her fourth year at the school and has been instrumental in developing the inquiry-based curriculum which is designed to promote critical thinking and creativity using 21st-century skills.
Laurie is committed to promoting a global perspective in her role as Upper PYP Coordinator. She is dedicated the ISNS community vision and looks forward to continuing to inspire and support students and teachers alike.
Judy Imamudeen
LPYP Coordinator (K3-G2)

With an extensive background working with multicultural backgrounds, Judy has served in schools in 7 different countries, across 3 continents. She has a Bachelors in Science and a Master of Education in Early Childhood and English as a Second Language. She is also an esteemed member of the larger IB network, collaborating on curriculum projects for the IB and providing professional development workshops for other educators.
For over 22 years, Judy has remained energetic and committed to ensuring that students have future-ready skills, along with a passion for learning and attitudes for success. She enjoys ensuring that students have a fun, warm, and exciting academic environment where they feel challenged and appreciated.
