We are diligently working through this plan to do our part for the planet. Several parents have pointed out the visible changes around the campus, from recycling bins, more greenery at NV, no more single-use plastic, etc. Thank you to the PSA, who has shown tremendous support as we continue to reduce our carbon emissions.
This brings me to an action that we really need your support with. We want to introduce Meatless Monday to SIS. The notion of Meatless Mondays is not new, and there is ample research to support how it can help our planet.
Here are some benefits:
Health Benefits: Eating plant-based meals once a week can improve students' health, offering essential nutrients and reducing disease risk.
Environmental Awareness: Reducing meat consumption teaches students about sustainability and lessens the environmental impact of food production.
Culinary Exploration: It encourages trying new plant-based foods, expanding students' tastes with diverse, nutritious dishes.
Compassion for Animals: This initiative can foster discussions about animal welfare and ethical food choices.
Inclusivity: Meatless options respect the dietary choices of all students, including vegetarians, vegans, and those with religious dietary practices.

Meatless Monday is a small change we can make at SIS that promotes health, sustainability, and inclusivity in schools. What do you think? Are you willing to talk with your child about this one small change for one school meal a week? We will of course, ask the students their views too. If you have any suggestions or want to know more about this approach to reducing carbon emissions
Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way
SIS staff have been taking "Teaching Parenting the Positive Discipline Way", a course designed for educators and parents. It focuses on nurturing mutual respect, effective communication, and problem-solving skills in families. The course equips participants with strategies for non-punitive discipline, fostering a supportive home environment that encourages children's growth and positive behaviour.
