Tech Week 2025: Hands-On Learning for Future Innovators|
From February 24th to 28th, ISNS hosted Tech Week 2025, an event filled with technology-focused activities for students across all grade levels. The week, a rebranded version of the "Hour of Code Week," was designed to be bigger and better than ever, featuring a wide array of events and activities.
One of the highlights of Tech Week was the Code Phoenix Activity Fair, led by over 50 Grade 8 students. These students designed and built custom activities for PYP students. The younger students, from K4 to Grade 1, participated in the Activity Fair on the EY Rooftop, while our older PYP students in Grades 2-5 attended the fair in the atrium.
This fair not only allowed the younger students to engage in fun and challenging activities but also provided an invaluable opportunity for the Grade 8 students to develop their leadership, creativity, and instructional skills.
Adding to the excitement, the Club Marty Showcase took place on Tuesday, in the auditorium. This robot-themed dance party celebrated the first completed "Marty the Dancing Robot" music videos from ISNS Grade 4 and 5 students. The next step for these videos is official submission to the robotics competition in Hong Kong.
Throughout the week, the Tech Integration Team provided division-level classroom activities for teachers to use. Early Years (EY) activities were teacher-led and required minimal preparation, while activities for PYP, MYP, and DP students were self-paced and included tutorials. In addition to these events, the Chess Team was excited to showcase their new chess-playing robot during the middle of the week.
The grand finale of Tech Week was the Tech Festival on Friday. Shenzhen-based tech education company VGCC delivered four unique experiences for the entire school. These included the Fighting Robot experience; the Real-Life Minecraft experience; the FPV Race Car experience; and the Motion Capture experience.
As we continue to foster innovation and technological literacy at ISNS, we are always eager to engage and connect with our vibrant Shenzhen technology community. We thank VGCC and look forward to future collaboration with local companies and experts to provide even more enriching experiences for our students.
The success of Tech Week 2025 was a result of the collaborative effort from staff and students across various divisions of the school. The week provided students with opportunities to explore coding, robotics, and other technologies, fostering creativity, problem-solving skills, and a love for learning.
