金生毕业生Dastan荣获香港青年作家奖

近日，金生收到了来自国际学校招生官分享的好消息。金生幼儿园2024届毕业生Dastan，以一篇讲述丝绸之路故事的英文写作，荣获了HKYWA香港青年作家奖高度推荐奖（Hong Kong Young Writers Awards 2026），在全港及国际学校学子的角逐中，凭实力留下了自己的印记。

Dastan爸爸妈妈打趣地和我们分享，这个奖“纯属意料之外”，绝对不是“卷”出来的。当时，妈妈对Dastan参赛这件事没想太多，甚至还劝他“差不多就行了” “赶紧睡觉吧”，而他却坚持写完、写好。得奖后的Dastan也是很淡定，没有欣喜若狂，只是拿起集结成册的本子告诉爸妈：“你们看，第XX页有我的名字。”

听到这个喜讯及背后的小故事，我们不禁会心一笑。

Recently, King’s Kindergarten received wonderful news from an international school admissions officer. Dastan, a graduate of King’s Kindergarten Class of 2024, has won the Highly Commended Award at the Hong Kong Young Writers Awards 2026 (HKYWA) with his English essay about the Silk Road. Among competitors from schools across Hong Kong and international institutions, Dastan has made his mark with genuine ability.

Dastan’s parents shared with us lightheartedly that the award was “totally unexpected” and by no means the result of excessive academic pressure.  At first, Dastan’s mother did not think much of his participation and even advised him to “just wrap it up” and “go to sleep quickly.” Yet Dastan insisted on finishing and perfecting his work.

Even after winning, Dastan remained calm. Instead of showing great excitement, he simply showed his parents the published anthology and said: “Look, my name is on page XX.”

This heartwarming story behind the achievement brought a smile to all of us.

在多年的育人历程中，金生觉得，教育这件事真的是一场“马拉松”。每个孩子都是独一无二的，教育的要务是帮助他们发展自我认同感，养成他们敢想、敢试、自信、坚韧等品质，拓展“心智带宽”，让他们在某些重要瞬间得以被看见，被支持，在属于自己的舞台上闪闪发光。

在AI迭代惊人的当下和未来，固有的知识和技能已远不足够，问题解决能力的重要性已成为共识。而它所依赖的底层核心，离不开充裕的“心智带宽”，即大脑用来思考、决策和控制情绪的“内存条”。

Through years of educating children, King’s believes that education is truly a marathon and that every child is unique. The priority of education is to help children develop a strong sense of self, cultivate qualities such as courage, curiosity, confidence and perseverance and to expand their mental bandwidth, so that they can be seen and supported at important moments, and shine brightly on their own stages.

In an era of rapid AI advancement, fixed knowledge and technical skills are no longer sufficient. The importance of problem-solving ability has been widely recognised, and its foundation lies in ample mental bandwidth, which is the “mental memory” our brains use for thinking, decision-making and emotional regulation.

没有爸爸妈妈热切的敦促和指导，面对这种未知的全港及大湾区权威级别的英文写作赛事，8岁的Dastan却坚持遵循内心的选择，确定目标并为之持续努力，这正是知识渊博、勇于尝试等IB学习者培养目标的体现。这也印证了我园独有的LEAD校园文化，始终在为孩子积蓄内在心理资源，让他们拥有解决问题的底气，成为独具气质的小小领导者。

而这份底气，同样离不开金生扎实的英文教学支撑以及IB国际视野下的学术积淀。

Without intense urging or guidance from his parents, 8-year-old Dastan chose to follow his heart, set a goal and persistently work toward it in this prestigious regional English writing competition. This perfectly embodies IB learner profile attributes such as being knowledgeable and courageous. It also reflects our unique LEAD culture at King’s: We continuously help children build inner psychological resources, equip them with the confidence to solve problems and grow into young leaders with distinctive character.

This confidence is also supported by King’s rigorous English teaching and academic excellence rooted in an international IB perspective.
