In September, the new academic year arrived as promised. During the first week of the fall semester of the 2026–2027 academic year, Shenzhen OCAHS welcomed a distinguished guest—Dr. Alan Cromlish, member of the Global Academic Committee of the Orange County International Education Development Agency and Ed.D. from the University of Southern California.

From the opening ceremony to the Master Teacher Lecture Series, from one-on-one mentoring to faculty training, Dr. Alan brought to the teachers and students of OCAHS an academic empowerment journey that spanned the entire opening week, drawing on his profound scholarly depth and extensive educational experience.

9月1日，深圳橘郡2026-2027学年秋季学期开学典礼在学术报告厅隆重举行。在全场师生的热烈掌声中，Alan博士登台致辞。

On September 1, the opening ceremony for the fall semester of the 2026–2027 academic year at Shenzhen OCAHS was solemnly held in the academic lecture hall. To the resounding applause of all present, Dr. Alan stepped onto the stage and addressed the audience

他向全体同学开启新学年表示热烈祝贺，并在致辞中抛出了一段发人深省的寄语：“你在这里度过的时间，最重要的收获并非一份完美的成绩单，也不是来自梦想大学的录取通知书，而是找到属于你自己道路的能力。”他鼓励同学们在新学年中保持好奇心、与周围人建立联系、对自己保有耐心，勇敢探索、持续成长，真正把握住宝贵的校园时光。

He warmly congratulated all students on the start of the new school year and shared a deeply inspiring message in his speech: "The most important thing you will gain from your time here is not a flawless academic record or an offer from a dream university. It is the ability to find your own path." He urged students to stay curious, build meaningful connections, give themselves grace, step out of their comfort zones, and keep growing—so they can truly embrace and make the most of their campus journey.

9月2日，正式开学的第二天，Alan博士走上橘郡大讲堂，为师生带来一堂关于未来升学和职业规划的专题指导课。他从如何发掘自身天赋出发，逐步深入到如何选择真正适合自己的目标大学，最后给出了独到的职业选择建议，干货满满，为新学年开端的同学们提供了清晰的规划思路。

On September 2, the second day of classes, Dr. Alan stepped onto the stage of the OCAHS Lecture Hall to lead an inspiring session on college admissions and career planning. He began by guiding students on how to identify their natural strengths, then moved on to help them think through how to select the right university for their unique goals, and wrapped up with his trademark career insights. It was a session brimming with actionable takeaways—giving students a solid roadmap to navigate the new school year from day one.

在答疑互动环节，同学们踊跃提问。当被问到“如何在众多能力中找到值得自己深耕的领域”时，Alan博士建议要坚持多去尝试：“当你愿意为了探索某一项领域而花费24小时甚至更多时间的时候，那就是你真正感兴趣的地方。”

In the Q&A session that followed, students were full of questions. When one student asked, "With so many options out there, how do we figure out which area is really worth pursuing?" Dr. Alan encouraged them to experiment relentlessly: "If you find yourself willing to devote 24 hours or more to exploring something—that's your true calling."

在一对一生涯指导环节中，他先耐心倾听每一位学生内心的想法及对未来规划的憧憬，再结合自身专业知识与切身经验，针对如何找到真正的兴趣点、如何选择未来大学、如何规划生涯职业等核心问题，给予个性化、可落地的建议。

In the one-on-one mentoring sessions focused on career development, he began by attentively hearing out each student's genuine thoughts and visions for their future. Subsequently, leveraging both his scholarly knowledge and firsthand experience, he offered tailored and practical guidance on addressing core challenges—including identifying genuine areas of passion, selecting the right university for the future, and charting a viable career trajectory.

在橘郡期间，Alan博士还接受了橘郡媒体专访。采访中，他特别提到，橘郡的中美教育深度融合理念，不仅让优秀的课程方案在中美间交流互鉴，更让更多中美学生有机会了解彼此、深度体验各自不同的文化。

During his time at OCAHS, Dr. Alan also took part in an exclusive media interview with OCAHS Media. In the conversation, he highlighted that the deeply integrated Sino-American educational approach at OCAHS enables not only the mutual exchange of excellent curricular practices between China and the United States, but also offers a growing number of students from both nations the chance to gain mutual understanding and immerse themselves in each other's distinct cultural traditions.

In his capacity as a member of the Global Academic Committee of the Orange County International Education Development Agency, Dr. Alan affirmed that he would join forces with his fellow committee members to consistently refine the pedagogical and research practices at OCAHS, foster the holistic development of both faculty and students, and support a growing number of OCAHS learners in achieving their aspirations of gaining admission to prestigious global institutions.
