What role does summer school play for students transitioning from senior high school entrance examinations to prestigious global universities?
The answer lies within ISA Wuhan, which has just graduated its second cohort. Admissions offers have arrived from world-leading institutions including California Institute of Technology, Duke University, Carnegie Mellon University, the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, the University of Cambridge, Imperial College London, the London School of Economics and Political Science, and Mohamed bin Zayed University of Artificial Intelligence. These offers are never achieved by chance. From the day students embark on the international education track, they are guided by a rigorous university counselling system, with every step laying groundwork for admission to top global universities.

For two consecutive years, ISA Wuhan has delivered remarkable outcomes. The 2026 cohort pursuing international pathways gained more than 400 offers from leading global universities, with total scholarships exceeding 16 million RMB. 80% secured offers from QS Top 50 institutions, and 100% received offers from U.S. Top 50 universities.
Beyond university admissions, ISA Wuhan has helped Wuhan achieve breakthroughs in world-class academic competitions. For two successive years, our students claimed the only Global Silver Award in Mathematics and the 6th place globally in Computer Science from the Yau Science Awards for Middle School Students across Central China, as well as Central China’s first Overall Global Championship at the Princeton University Mathematics Invitational.
Our admission results reflect rich diversity: a golf athlete gained admission to Boston College; music students entered Berklee College of Music; art students secured offers from University of the Arts London. Distinctions such as the John Locke Essay Competition Gold Award and outstanding results in the Linguistics Olympiad further add to our achievements.
At the closing ceremony of the recently concluded summer school for incoming Grade 10 students, this educational philosophy has already set clear growth trajectories for newly enrolled teenagers.

On the first day of summer school, foreign teachers invited students to share their aspirations in English, yet silence filled the classroom. Three weeks later, students took the stage at the closing ceremony, delivering Model United Nations speeches and hosting the whole event with fluent English. What they transcended was not merely language barriers, but a transformation in thinking.
英语课上，以“过去三十年世界的变化”为轴，同学们研究中国入世、智能手机革命、新冠疫情三大事件，将宏观叙事转化为信息图海报，在跨文化视角中完成策展方案。数学与物理课堂则打通了竞赛与未来学术的通道——AMC12的平面几何从生疏到灵活运用，极限与导数的概念提前引入。

In English lessons, centred on “Global Shifts over the Past Three Decades”, students analysed three pivotal events: China’s accession to the WTO, the smartphone revolution and the COVID-19 pandemic. They translated macro narratives into infographic posters and developed exhibition plans from cross-cultural perspectives. Mathematics and physics classes bridged competition training and future academia: students grew adept at plane geometry for AMC12, while concepts of limits and derivatives were introduced in advance. This epitomises daily learning at ISA Wuhan. Competition courses, research training and project-based inquiry equip students with core competencies to embrace the future.
From Acquiring Knowledge to Solving Real-World Problems
如果说学术课是地基，那STEAM科创则是最鲜明的标识。
结营仪式展台上，一架3D打印直升机模型静静停驻。冯同学转动螺旋桨，讲解超声波传感器的测距原理；宴同学拆分电路模块，讲述编程中的曲折与突破；王同学说：“创新不只需要技术，更需要一个不放弃的团队。”
以Arduino主板为核心“音乐蛋糕盒”项目，同学们从各自为政到协同合作，从建模零基础到成型作品。三周前还几乎不懂3D建模的少年，此刻在聚光灯下，用真实作品讲述如何把想法变成现实。

If academic classes form the foundation, STEAM innovation stands as our defining feature.
On display at the closing ceremony, a 3D-printed helicopter model attracted attention. Student Feng rotated the propeller and explained the ranging principle of ultrasonic sensors; Student Yan disassembled circuit modules and recounted hurdles and breakthroughs in programming. Student Wang shared: “Innovation requires not only technology, but also a persevering team.”
In the “Musical Cake Box” project built around Arduino boards, students evolved from working independently to collaborating closely. Those with zero experience in 3D modelling three weeks prior showcased finished creations under the spotlight, demonstrating how ideas can be turned into tangible outcomes.

The Model United Nations session brought the closing ceremony to its highlight. Dressed formally, students debated topics including global climate change — daring to express opinions, raise doubts and state clear positions. Twenty days transformed students from nervous newcomers to confident speakers, fostering inner assurance. Head of Secondary Education Mr. Zhang commented: “From tentative attempts at the start of camp to the radiance of confidence on stage, students have shifted from following others to taking the lead.”
研学同样赋予多元视野，走进“萝卜快跑”基地触摸科技脉搏，探访牛黄文化馆追溯文化根脉。“读万卷书，行万里路”，正是全人教育中“知行合一”的写照。而这一切，都与学校的升学规划主线紧密相连，让每次经历都成为招生官眼中那个“有观点、有行动、有思考”的年轻人。

Study tours further broaden horizons. Students visited Apollo Go bases to experience cutting-edge technology and toured the Calculus Officinalis Culture Museum to trace cultural heritage. “Read ten thousand books and travel ten thousand miles” captures the integration of knowledge and practice central to holistic education. Every experience ties into long-term university counselling, helping students become candidates who demonstrate independent viewpoints, action and critical thinking in the eyes of admissions officers.
As Weiming Zhou, Deputy Principal of ISA Wuhan Campus, noted: Summer school delivers more than short-term knowledge gains. It nurtures courage to explore the unknown, habits of independent critical thinking, and forward-looking planning skills — the confidence to take ownership of one’s future.
刚忙完中考，为什么又忙？因为真正的赛道，从中考结束的那一刻就重新划定。
